Thane Coastal Road

The Balkum-Gaimukh NH-3 Connector is a landmark transportation infrastructure project being executed for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). Spanning approximately 13.45 km between Balkum and Gaimukh, the project is being delivered under Design, Build and Construction (DBC) contract and is targeted for completion by December 2028.

The project showcases a blend of advanced highway, bridge and geotechnical engineering, comprising approximately 7.85 km of elevated viaducts, a 240 m creek bridge, a vehicular underpass, five minor bridges, pedestrian underpasses, foot overbridges, box culverts and extensive retaining and drainage structures. Ground improvement works, including treatment of challenging coastal and mangrove terrains, form a key component of the project, demonstrating Navayuga’s capability to execute complex infrastructure works in environmentally sensitive conditions.

This project was conceptualized by the Government of Maharashtra mainly to decongest the existing GB Road (Ghodbunder) which is currently having a dense traffic all the time.

Upon completion, the Balkum-Gaimukh Connector will serve as a transformative urban mobility corridor, enhancing regional connectivity, supporting economic growth and strengthening the transportation network of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The project reflects Navayuga’s commitment to engineering excellence, innovation and delivery of sustainable, future-ready infrastructure.
