Eastern Freeway Extension

The Eastern Freeway Extension Project is a strategically important urban transportation corridor being executed by Navayuga Engineering Company Limited for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). Spanning 13.9 km between Chheda Nagar and Anand Nagar, the project is designed to strengthen connectivity between Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane while alleviating congestion on some of the region’s busiest arterial roads. As a critical mobility corridor serving key government, commercial and residential zones, the route plays a vital role in the daily movement of commuters, business traffic, and government officials.

The project comprises a six-lane elevated freeway, elevated toll plaza, multiple entry and exit ramps, viaducts, utility relocations and associated civil, structural, electrical and drainage works. Traversing densely developed urban areas including Mulund, Aeroli, Vikhroli and Ghatkopar, the corridor demands complex engineering solutions and meticulous construction planning to ensure uninterrupted traffic movement during execution.

This project was conceptualized by the Government of Maharashtra to provide direct connectivity between the existing Easter Freeway starting from South Mumbai to Thane to Saket to Amne and then connecting the Samrudhi and then proceeding to Nagpur.

Upon completion, the Eastern Freeway Extension will create a high-speed, congestion-free transportation link, reducing travel time by up to an hour during peak periods and enhancing connectivity across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The project stands as a testament to Navayuga’s capability to deliver large-scale, technically challenging infrastructure projects that contribute significantly to urban mobility and regional economic growth.
